So you’ve made the first, and most important step, on your health journey - you’ve got to the gym or headed outside for a great workout; the next step is managing the fatigue that sets in after pushing your body to the limit. A tough workout regime requires effective recovery, but are you incorporating enough recovery-boosting nutrients into your routine? Below we discuss the benefits of protein supplementation to ensure your body is truly nourished and repaired.

What is protein?

Quite simply, protein is the building block of most of the structures in the body and is made up of groupings of amino acids. When we exercise we break these structures, with the body having to work harder to repair. Protein supplementation through powdered blends like those offered by Nourished Nutrition assist both men and women with this repair.

How can protein help?

Cellular recovery

After a workout, it’s important to consume a complete amino acid profile. Imbalances in amino acids can interfere with protein synthesis, which can hinder proper recovery. It is important when selecting a protein powder, that you choose one that contains a complete amino acid profile, including the 9 essential amino acids which our bodies cannot naturally produced and therefore must obtain from the foods we eat.

Most high quality vegetable based protein powders, like Nourish + Repair Revitalising Protein Blend, contain all nine essential amino acids, plus many more. Pairing a vegetable based protein with a non-dairy milk such as Pureharvest Organic Activated Almond Milk ensures that the body has a top quality source of easily digestible protein as, unlike dairy based protein powders, non-dairy based protein and milk sources do not cause unwanted bloating and indigestion.

Assists weight management

An optimal protein intake helps you to maintain a higher lean body mass. This assists in providing a leaner physique whilst also improving metabolic rate further and helping to decrease fat stores. Protein supplementation also helps you feel fuller for longer, reducing the chances of unnecessary snacking.

Improved bone health and focus

Protein provides the amino acid matrix for bone and connective tissue as well as improves mental focus. Ample protein helps to provide the structure for healthy bones, and improves the effects of mental and physical fatigue.

Nourished Nutrition Nourish + Repair Revitalising Protein Blend is full of amino acids and 16.5 grams of clean pea protein per serve, making it a great post-workout recovery option to replenish muscles, and help achieve a lean body. In addition to important amino acids, every serve of Nourish + Repair contains revitalising and hydrating marine collagen, a core blend of 7 nutrient dense greens, balancing probiotics and essential vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in naturally-occurring phytonutrients and antioxidants and is high in fibre.
